I read with interest the article by Marc Etches (page 10, July 24). I hope Sir Howard Bernstein has more of an eye for the future, or God help us!
I am now on the Heritage Forum representing Equity’s Variety Branch, in place of the late Cyril Critchlow. Blackpool is within easy travelling distance, for students from many major universities, with plenty of accommodation and theatres. These theatres need to be preserved and protected so that when we get the National Museum of Performing Arts, we are able not only to attract the tourist but to educate the masses in the historical ramifications of performance and entertainment through the ages.
There is no reason Blackpool could not become the World Heritage Site for Performance and Entertainment for the Masses and thus become known worldwide.
