Resolving Matthews matter

Published Tuesday 1 July 2008 at 15:05

With reference to Ian Herbert’s column, “Running costs do ACE no favours” (page 10, June 26), I’d like to clarify that Arts Council England’s Theatre Assessment, which is being managed by Anne Millman and Jodi Myers, is looking at the impact of the additional £25 million invested in theatre each year since 2002/3 and the effect of other changes, including those in demographics, politics, local authority funding and theatre practice, over that period. The results of the assessment will form the basis for our conversations with theatre organisations, fellow funders and artists about the best way forward.

Contrary to the impression given in Ian Herbert’s piece, Anne Millman’s former arts consultancy partner is John Matthews, and not myself.
