Cost of comments

I wholly support the apology made last week to Bill Kenwright by Harry Landis for his ill-judged comments, but would be most grateful if Equity members could be told whether the full page in The Stage last week was paid for from the subscription pot or whether it was paid for by Harry Landis personally.

From its wording, I can only imagine that the full page ‘advertisement’ was taken out on an understanding between the legal representatives of both Bill Kenwright Ltd and Equity.

When Equity’s next set of accounts come out, I will look carefully for this ‘exceptional item’ and I will also look carefully for the legal bill which informed it.

In its summary, the advertisement states that ‘the matter is now closed’. It certainly will be once Equity members receive a full explanation as to why they have been charged for the individual remarks of their president.
