Gutsy producer

Published Monday 9 June 2008 at 14:10

Mr Landis’ comments regarding Bill Kenwright (Front, May 22) are laughable. Love him or hate him, Bill Kenwright has more guts in what and how he produces than any other producer. He employs hundreds of artists each year, without Mr Kenwright’s prolific outfit, many of these actors would not work. Not only do I produce, but I run a touring house theatre. I have never heard an actor complain about pay from Mr Kenwright.

Why Mr Landis decided to pick on him, I have no idea. I know for some of the producers this spring, a strike from actors would be no threat but a help to starve off some of the losses being made in regional theatres.

Mr Landis should get out into the real world and see what is happening there.
