First class director

Published Tuesday 6 May 2008 at 12:45

Your article on the career of Peter Wilson, (page 32, April 10), director of the Theatre Royal, Norwich - where he is held with the greatest regard from theatregoers - was superb. However, I do not think it is generally known of his wonderful long-going productions in London.

Peter Wilson

As you mentioned recently, he has overlooked the refurbishment of the Theatre Royal, Norwich, helping through so many means to raise money towards the cost.

Also, it should be remembered that in June 1997, Peter Wilson arranged for the Norwegian State Opera company and orchestra to come to Norwich to perform the whole of Wagner’s Ring Cycle. For four nights (June 18-21), every seat in the theatre was booked, patrons coming from all over the country as well as from Canada.

Indeed, Norwich Theatre Royal audiences are very lucky to have Peter Wilson as its director, bringing as he does first class productions, often before their London debut.
