I was very pleased to read Jean Rogers’ excellent letter (Letters, February 14, page 8) regarding Equity’s stand against invisible end-of-programme credit lists. She is quite right about needing action.
New proposals for end credits on the BBC channels Photo: BBC
I am sure that an overwhelming number of viewers would support their favourite actors if they understood how important credits were both to them and everyone in a production. So far more publicity is needed. Perhaps badges and car stickers, eg. ‘Credits: Can’t See? Don’t Watch BBC’.
In the meantime, I offer my personal mode of resistance - if I can’t read the BBC credits, or have my enjoyment of a production marred by the intrusive “next up” voice before the last shot has faded, I turn over to another channel, regardless of what might follow, or simply turn off.
