Defending Darius

In reply to Tabard’s disparaging remarks about the casting of Darius Danesh as Rhett Butler, I think he is in fact well qualified to play this part.

Darius Danesh

Since his memorable Baby One More Time (good telly though, and what the producers want these days) in Popstars he redeemed himself in Pop Idol in 2001, reached the final stages with some superb performances and turned down Simon Cowell’s £1 million offer to sing cover songs.

Colourblind became his first No. 1 single, followed by his self-penned album Dive In, which went platinum.

At 25, he became the youngest Billy Flynn in Chicago and appeared in 121 shows without missing a performance - please note, Bill Kenwright, whose variety of Josephs and Narrators disappointed thousands of punters in Edinburgh recently.

In 2007, Darius starred in Guys and Dolls and spent part of the year working on another album.

He is a great talent, has extraordinary charisma on stage and I’m sure will be a perfect Rhett Butler.
