Superior knowledge

Published Tuesday 22 August 2006 at 10:45

Having been in the original production of The Sound of Music I am slightly concerned by the thought of the Mother Superior singing You’ll Never Walk Alone to Maria, the Captain and seven children as they make their dramatic exit over the mountains (Showpeople, August 17, page 7). Or has Andrew Lloyd-Webber taken further liberties not only by casting inexperienced leading ladies but turning Rodgers and Hammerstein’s songs into oxymorons?
