Case of conflict

Published Tuesday 15 August 2006 at 12:35

What with Iraq, Iran and Lebanon, isn’t it amazing how theatreland is staying silent and smugly waiting for everything in the middle East to play out. When was it that the God of Pacifism (Harold Pinter) self righteously spoke up and bravely delivered a speech? Not for a good two years I think.

Isn’t it interesting that the Birmingham Rep suddenly decided to present Behzti? (It only took a few angry letters to The Stage to achieve that.)

What a bunch of spineless opportunists the establishment are.

It’s just as well that it is a democratic and secular Britain that subsidises our public theatres.
