Speaking in turn

Published Monday 5 June 2006 at 16:25

Clive Hurst really must learn the rules of debate. While the conference was discussing censorship, Clive saw fit to get up and hold forth about up-front fees, amidst shouts of “out of order!” from the floor. I had to tell him to speak to the matter in hand. I am sorry he considers this being treated as “something the cat dragged in” (Stage talk, June 1, page 8). The irony is that the next day there was a motion which would have accommodated his desire to speak on up-front fees. Alas he wasn’t there that day.
