Theatretrain’s track record

Published Monday 5 June 2006 at 16:20

I wish to draw your attention to some mistakes in your description of Theatretrain in your article (The Show Business, June 1, pages 30-1). Theatretrain does not have 14 centres but 80. It is not “mostly in the north of England and the Midlands” but nationwide and Ireland with centres opening shortly in Wales and Scotland. Our trust funds have raised over £100,000 to help develop our own local children’s theatres.

We are a team-based organisation with an ensemble approach to theatre that creates performance opportunities for all our pupils. This summer alone, more than 3000 pupils will take the stage in our own productions at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, Manchester Palace and the Royal Albert Hall. We have done this without subsidy since 1993.

We would not describe ourselves as rivals to Stagecoach as our business, artistic and educational aims go in a very different direction.
