Past and President

Published Monday 8 May 2006 at 16:45

Thank you for your very reasonable and fair analysis of the Representative Group within Equity in your editorial on May 4 (Leader, page 8). May I make one point?

You say ‘His [Landis’] support for new blood on the council sits uneasily with his determination to remain in office.’

A glance around the photographs of past presidents in the Equity council chamber will illustrate that the wit and wisdom of an experienced older member with gravitas has always been prefered in that role. I am still working on the gravitas.

It is the council itself that could do with new and younger blood, which is why I am advocating the end of the list system.
