After the farrago of who should, and who should not, have been considered for recognition, I dread the New Year lists (News, January 5, page 2). All and sundry who step out of their front door nowadays seem to be listed.
WS Gilbert once wrote: “When everybody’s somebody, then no-one’s anybody.”
I wonder if there is a published list of people who have refused any honour. Now, that really would be worth reading.
