Agent guidelines open enough

To comment upon your story on and back page advertisement by the Agents’ Association (News, September 2, front page).

We all share Mr James’ disappointment that the government did not choose to accept our demands for licensing of agents, even though the television walk-on field they operate nearer to the high street bureaux from which he would wish to separate. This is presumably why the National Association of Supporting Artists Agents has been set up to represent their interests.

What mystifies me, however, is why Mr James’ members would wish to complain about having to set out their terms of business in writing before entering into, or remaining with, a client. The Equity advice document contains a sample agreement which surely no open or honest agent could possibly object.
