Forgetful traveller

Jonathan Harvey, the writer behind the recent stage show celebrating 50 years of Coronation Street, found himself at the centre of a story which could have been made up by the soap’s writers (of which he is one).

Earlier this month, he appeared on BBC Breakfast to publicise Corrie!, which recently premiered at the Lowry Centre. Soon after his TV appearance, a man wrote to the playwright saying that he recognised him on TV from a picture on a student union card in a wallet which Harvey had lost in France in 1986.

Even more strangely, Harvey confessed - on his Facebook page - that he had “no recollection” of losing said wallet or even taking a trip to France in 1986. But, after being presented with scans of the photo, he had to acknowledge that it was indeed him.

Apparently, the chap “had forgotten all about it and came across it in his loft recently” before tuning in to BBC Breakfast.
