The allure of the magical Ms McGee

Las Vegas magic headliners Penn and Teller made a welcome return to the London stage last week, with their first UK appearance in more than 15 years.

But they were not the only magic legends making a long-awaited return to Theatreland. In the audience at the Hammersmith Apollo, was none other than Paul Daniels and the lovely Debbie McGee. The pair, who have also been absent from the West End for some time, were bombarded with a constant stream of audience members coming up to talk to them before the performance and in the interval.

Which is a little ironic, bearing in mind that one of the quotes the producers of Penn and Teller had been using to promote their show was “Not for anyone who is a fan of Paul Daniels” from an earlier Times review.
