Such a big Ed

The ever-bashful Tory culture minister Ed Vaizey was in fine form during an interview with The Stage this month. When asked whether there was a danger of the Conservative culture post reverting to its historic default of political backwater if current shadow culture secretary (and Tory rising star Jeremy Hunt) is promoted after the General Election, Vaizey replied: “Well, it depends on who succeeds Jeremy. Obviously, if I succeed Jeremy it will be fantastic, if anyone else does it will be a disaster,” A pause, failed attempt to keep a straight face and then, “I want that as a box quote.”
