Chit chat: An enterprising act in SE1

Published Tuesday 26 January 2010 at 11:30 by Tabard

Thanks to SE1’s Twitter service for this next chit chat - one of the most enterprising uses of a planning response Tabard has ever had the pleasure of seeing.

A little while ago, the Old Vic Theatre had to make a planning application to use the arches under Waterloo Station for an installation, in collaboration with innovative theatre company Punchdrunk. The planning was opened up to the public and received this response: “The respondent is an out of work actor who lives near the premises and will only support the application if the applicant gives him a job.”

The planning officer’s response? “This is not a material planning consideration.”

Well, you can’t blame the chap for trying.
