Chit chat - Musical box

Meanwhile, those of you wondering what you might like to buy for Tabard for Christmas this year should start taking notes now.

Our favourite element of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera (indeed his entire oeuvre, in fact) has always been the monkey music box. Some might quibble with this, but we remain firm on this point.

Imagine our delight then, when we discovered recently that you can buy a replica. The monkey plays the cymbals as the music box cranks out the tune Masquerade. Brilliant.

So, now you know, we’ll be expecting one in the post.

Less generous souls among you (and we know who you are) might just like to head to the Really Useful Group’s website to look at the other items they have available over the Christmas period to buy for their loved ones and relatives.

Needless to say, while none are up to the sublimely inspired standard of the music box, there are a couple of other interesting ideas for the musical theatre buff in your life.

How about a singing camel (with the voice of Donny Osmond) which plays the song Any Dream Will Do from Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat? Or perhaps a ‘Cats musical trinket box’, which plays the song Memory from ALW’s feline hit?
