The curse of the Scottish Play strikes again.
Nottingham Playhouse has become the latest theatre to be hit by ill fortune while putting on a staging of the show that must not be named.
During one of last week’s performances and just as Liam Brennan (playing the Scottish monarch) finished denouncing life as “a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing”, the venue was plunged into pitch darkness. No, not a directorial decision, but a power failure.
Interestingly, it’s not the first time that the Playhouse has had problems with the curse. Its first effort - back in 1952 - hit problems when the lead actor broke his ankle in a dress rehearsal.
