Chit Chat - at Edinburgh

Published Monday 4 August 2008 at 18:15 by Tabard

Tabard hasn’t made the trip up to Edinburgh for the start of the festival this week, but has instead dispatched a few little helpers to the barren lands north of the border. These are some of the things they’ve reported back.

Firstly, Orlando Bloom is a nice chap. He has been spotted flyering outside the Underbelly. His sister is appearing in a show there and, in a rather touching display of sibling support, he’s lending a helping hand.

Next, the press officers at C Venues are like ostriches.

By that we mean, living with their heads in the sand. They have been swearing blind that there is no problem with their box office and that the computer system is working perfectly, while only a few yards away box office staff are handwriting tickets for customers because they can’t get the technology to work.

And finally, Lily Allen doesn’t like panto.

Portobello Panto is producing a show at the Gilded Balloon and, in their publicity quotes, boldly show off a line attributed to the pop princess and self-appointed cultural tsar.

“We all know panto is generally crap,” she muses, “for kids only, but this is my kind of humour.”

Now, if that’s not an impressive endorsement… Personally, we’d rather have Orlando handing out our flyers.
