Chit chat - Colourblind casting

Published Tuesday 5 February 2008 at 12:15 by Tabard

Meanwhile, there has been one other question on people’s lips since the end of last week. Darius Danesh as Rhett Butler?

Yes, the man most famous for his rendition of Hit Me Baby One More Time (oh, how he must long to forget that), is to take to the West End stage in Trevor Nunn’s new musical version of Gone With the Wind.

It’s a strange choice and one is tempted to think that it has to be based solely on Danesh’s performance in the auditions. After all, he has little public profile in the wider world now - it’s been rather a long time since his hit single Colourblind - so can’t really be deemed a box office draw in himself.

Or maybe it’s just a (Gone With the) Wind up.
