Chit chat - Define ‘exclusive’

Meanwhile, Tabard wonders whether BBC Wales will be sending the heavies over to Arts Industry, as the magazine is clearly a little confused as to what the term ‘exclusive’ means.

In this month’s edition of the magazine, AI runs a news piece, tagged as an ‘exclusive’ scoop, about the fact that Wales Millennium Centre is facing insolvency.

In fact, the news had already been reported by, among others, The Stage and BBC online.

Fair enough, an honest mistake you might say - clearly AI hadn’t spotted that the piece had been reported elsewhere and thought that they had the first sniff at it.

But no, for on reading the article, one spots the line ‘according to the BBC Wales Dragon’s Eye programme’. So, AI is acknowledging that it has picked up this piece of news from elsewhere and still attempting to claim that it is the only place that has the story.

So Tabard is a little confused as to exactly what AI thinks ‘exclusive’ means exactly.
