Chit chat - Kevin’s Bard behaviour

Published Friday 19 May 2006 at 13:50

Next up, we’re off to Germany for some gossip coming out of the Old Vic’s recent festival appearance with its production of Richard II.

Much of the cast was changed from the show that graced the London stage - and picked up a Critics’ Circle award for Kevin Spacey’s performance - with understudies taking on many of the roles. However, Kev remained as Richard and according to the Old Vic artistic director, he and his new cast rather enjoyed themselves at the Ruhr Festival.

“We just had the best time,” he told The Stage. “It was like we were on a class field trip. I’m not sure the bar at the hotel will ever be the same - 26 actors gathering night after night.”

Well, I suppose, when in Rome.
