Leading production companies and technical industry specialists recently contributed skills and resources to help stage a successful 2009 Barnes Charity Ball - a fundraiser for the Under Tree Schools project in Sudan.
Lighting designer Richard Lambert took control of lighting, also enrolling the help of professional peers including Noreen O’Riordan of Entec Sound and Light, who provided the lighting rig, and Michael Althaus of MA Lighting who supplied the control system. Production management was undertaken by Ryan Brown of Entec and programming by Liz Berry, with additional help and operations by Jonathan Lyle. The lighting rig was controlled by a GrandMA Full-Size, and the rig included Alpha Spot 300 hpe fixtures, four Mac 250Plus, and eight Mac 300s.
Entertainment at the event, which took place at St Mary’s Church in Barnes, London, included a singing and aerial display by Charlie Bricknell and the Dream Girls (Michelle and Tink) and the evening raised £55,000. The project in southern Sudan aims to provide a future for girls who would otherwise receive no education. The latest money raised will go towards building new classrooms.
