Ironing out the kinks

Published Monday 24 November 2008 at 16:30

Audio rental company, Thames Audio, supplied the Theatre Royal Stratford East’s production of the new Ray Davies musical, Come Dancing.

The show, which was written by the ex-Kinks front man who also narrates the story, features a 48 x 24 Digidesign Profile system. Sound designer, James Tebb, explains that central to achieving the many quick creative changes required were the options available in the Profiles’ snapshot section.

“Being able to propagate settings and edit snapshots in absolute or relative mode allowed changes to be made simply and accurately,” says Tebb.

“Added to this was the ability to record and playback individual channels via Pro Tools, meaning we could edit large sections of the show and have it sound checked and ready to go before the cast and band had even entered the building.”
