More than 200 Robe units were employed site-wide at the 2008 Electric Picnic Art and Music Festival, set in the picturesque environs of Stradbally Hall, County Laois.
Irish lighting rental company Just Lite, which lit all 15 performance stages at the event, supplied the mix of Robes - 2500s, 1200s, 700s and 575s.
Liam McCarthy, who also stage-managed the main stage, designed all the lighting for all the stages. The imperative was to accommodate the requirements of the headlining acts in the design, along with any specials packages.
The five main music stages were the Main Open Air Stage, The Electric Arena, Crawdaddy, The Little Big Stage, Cosby and the Body Tonic Dance arena, which included two smaller areas - Twisted Pepper and Bernard Shaw.
On the main stage, which measured 60 x 60 ft and consisted of four arches, the lighting rig hung off a series of sub-hung overhead and side trusses. Control was via two Road Hog Full Boars and a Wing, operated by Darragh McAuliffe, while the crew chief was Brendan Swanton.
Stradbally Hall itself was also architecturally lit, with a lighting scheme by Paul Smith that included six ColorSpot 2500E ATs, used to produce gobo chases at strategic moments throughout the evening. Just Lite’s crew of 22 were project managed co-ordinated by Alan Smith and Lisa Browne, and the live stages production manager was Ian Smith.
