The lighting supply for the UK Arena tour of the Osmonds’ 50th anniversary tour is being handled by Bandit Lites, the rig having been designed by Mike Frogge, who has worked with Donny Osmond for many years.
According to Bandit, the rig needed to be relatively straightforward and one which could also be reduced easily in size.
Based on eight trusses, there were six over the stage and two as a front truss, each of the over-stage truss structures being rigged with four Vari Lite 3000 Spots. The two furthest upstage were rigged with two Vari Lite 3500 Washes and the four mid-stage trusses each had four Vari Lite 3500s, which were used as wash lights for the Osmonds.
The rig also featured 16 Martin Professional Atomic strobes, eight on the floor and eight in the air, plus a selection of generics including 16 four-lite Moles and PAR 64s to tone all the trusses in Lee 202.
All the
lighting was controlled from a WholeHog II console, chosen specifically because of its availability when the tour goes on to visit Asia, after Australia. The Bandit crew included crew chief Andy Brown, dimmer tech Dom Martin and lighting technician Ben Hammett.
