With more than 100 participating companies, the organisers said that, despite the current uncertain economic climate, visitor numbers were maintained and slightly up on 2007.

“Over the years, the ABTT Theatre Show has hosted the unveiling of some groundbreaking products, which have revolutionised the world of theatre” added the ABTT, its annual ABTT Awards being staged at Church House, Westminster.

Among the 2008 Award categories were the Best Sound Product, awarded to d&b audiotechnic’s new E-series loudspeakers with their rotatable high frequency horns and Best Engineering & Rigging product, won by Steeldeck for its innovative Apack retractable seating system. Additionally, Simon Stone of Unusual Rigging was voted Technician of the Year, while Honorary Membership of the ABTT was awarded to Steve Tyrrell in recognition of his services to the theatre show over 25 years.
