Frequently Asked Questions

4) Are there lists of agents and record companies I can write to?

You will find these in Contacts, and The Actors' Yearbook, and also books such as The White Book and The Knowledge. The latter two are expensive reference titles so you may prefer simply to look through your CD collection to find record company names and addresses. Try reference sections of your local library which may have a copy of these books, or something similar.

Remember they are all deluged with letters, photos and tapes from hopefuls so you are not guaranteed a reply or the return of your demo.

Searches on an internet search engine can also come up with some valuable resources. Try a search for UK record companies on Google.

The British Library also has this page for the major record companies.

Record Labels on the Web lists exactly what it says on the tin.

Artists Direct also have a large listing of Record Labels by country and genre.

For theatrical agents you could try a search on the Agents Association (Great Britain) or National Entertainment Agents Council sites.
