ITV orders adaptation of The Ice Cream Girls

Lorraine Burroughs and Jodhi May are to star in a television adaptation of the book The Ice Cream Girls.

The drama is being made by Left Bank Pictures, the company behind Wallander, and focuses on two women who are reunited 17 years after murdering their schoolteacher.

It is based on the book of the same name by Dorothy Koomson and has been adapted for TV by Kate Brooke. The three-part drama will begin filming this month in Dublin.

The Ice Cream Girls is being executive produced by Andy Harries and directed by Dan Zeff.

ITV drama director Laura Mackie, who commissioned the serial, said: “The quality of Kate Brooke’s scripts has attracted a fantastic cast and we’re delighted to be working on such a gripping contemporary thriller with Left Bank Pictures.”
