Belfast’s £18 million city-centre Metropolitan Arts Centre has announced an adaptation of Oliver Jeffers’ The Incredible Book Eating Boy as part of its first autumn season.

The children’s show is a co-production between the MAC and the Belfast-based Cahoots theatre company, and is being described as “a Christmas show with a difference”.

Other theatre offerings include Huzzies, a new play from Stacey Gregg with music by Katie Richardson, in a partnership between the MAC and Tinderbox for the Belfast Festival at Queen’s, a new adaptation of Lady Windermere’s Fan by Patrick J O’Reilly, and The Man Who, a comedy from writer Seamus Collins and Chatterbox Productions.

The season also includes a visit from the Michael Clark Dance Company, a music festival guest curated by Duke Special, and new exhibitions.

More than 100,000 visitors have attended events at the MAC – which has two theatre spaces with combined seating of 470, a dedicated dance studio, and three art galleries – in its first 14 weeks of operation.
