Des O’Connor joins West End Wizard of Oz

Des O’Connor will appear in the title role of the Wizard of Oz at the London Palladium from May 22.

O’Connor has previously made more than 1,200 solo appearances at the Palladium, but this will mark the first time he has performed in a musical at the venue.

He will join the cast from May 22 and play the show’s final season, starring alongside Sophie Evans as Dorothy. The show is currently booking until October 28.

The Wizard of Oz by L Frank Baum is directed by Jeremy Sams, choreographed by Arlene Phillips, music and lyrics by Harold Arlen and E Y Harburg, with additional music and lyrics by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice and set and costumes designs by Robert Jones. It is produced by Bill Kenwright and the Really Useful Group.
