Catherine Tate is to open a series of talks for the Royal Shakespeare Company looking at the impact of the Bard on some of the UK’s best known actors, writers and celebrities.

The series, entitled Shakespeare and Me, opens on May 27 with the actress and comedienne talking about her own relationship with the playwright.

Tate played Smeraldina in the RSC’s A Servant to Two Masters in 2000 and has a string of stage credits to her name, including The Way of the World at the National Theatre.

She will appear in conversation with events producer Fiona Lindsay at the Courtyard Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon from 1pm. Further names are yet to be confirmed.
